"The journey to success begins with a single step"

Florida Agriculture and Mechanical University

My Journey as an agriculturalist started at Florida Agriculture and Mechanical University. Initially, my educational pursuit was focused on weapons engineering. However, I had a pivotal moment that led me to transition my degree toward Agriculture. Instead of the possibility of creating weapons that may lead to harming people, places, or things, I developed a sense of responsibility to contribute to the world's advancement through Agriculture.

During my time at FAMU, I did a life-changing summer internship with the National Park Service by being a member of the Student Conservation Association. I spent a total of three months and 1,137 miles away from campus in the state of Michigan on the Vegetation crew at Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes National Lake Shore. This opportunity changed my life forever. During my free time, I volunteered at a boarding school that had a closed-loop farm-to-table regenerative agriculture model. This was the launching pad for the next 10+ years of my life.

Taking courses in global sustainability, agricultural policy, economics, and volunteering at iGrow community youth farm greatly influenced my perspective and outlook on my degree field of Agricultural Business. As graduation approached, I decided to start my own business YAH Rootz LLC.
